Ten Generations of Burnells First Generation 1. Robert Burnell was born about 1700. I had thought that
Robert might have been the son of William Burnell of Kirkgate, Leeds born in
1702. However, I have now
established that this Robert Burnell continued to live at Kirkgate, married,
had children and died in
Kirkgate, so is not the same person. The most likely place for our Robert to
have been born is Shadwell,
but the records for Thorner parish from this period are very damaged and incomplete. Robert married1 Jane Wiggin daughter of Robert Wiggin and Elisabeth
